Bill Brandt was born on May 2, 1904 as Herman Wilhelm Brandt in Hamburg, Germany. On December 20, 1983, he passed away at the age of 79 in London, England. Most of his life was spent working as a photojournalist and photographer.
In the 1930's he worked in in the Paris studio of "Man Ray". This was where his vision of presenting the mundane world as fresh and strange came through. Around 1933, he moved to London and began documenting all levels of British society.
He has released books to showcase his work: The English at Home in 1936, A Night in London in 1938, etc. He was also a regular contributor to magazines.
In the years leading up to his death, he worked more with people than landscape. He released a series of nudes that would later become very popular.
